It has been a crazy year hasn’t it? The horrible deaths of the beloved Kobe and Gigi Bryant, terrible ongoing issues with racism and police brutality and Coronavirus sweeping across the entire globe discriminating against no one nation. Everyone forced to quarantine, self-isolate and go into lockdown. Many months we’ve spent sitting at home doing home workouts and doing whatever we could to pass the time, stay healthy and stay sane. However, there was one thing that managed to keep the glimmer of hope to keep many of us going. One thing that helped and continues to help us see light at the end of the tunnel. One thing that has continued to unite many of us as a community to help each other through. That my friends is what we all know as, NBA Basketball.
Yes, yes yes! The 2019/20 NBA season resumed and what a season it was. We saw some amazing work by the NBA to get the league going again in the Orlando bubble and what a spectacle it was. We saw some highs such as the Phoenix Suns amazing win streak, the resilience and simply amazing play of Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, Jimmy Butler, Denver Nuggets & the Miami Heat and also LeBron James, AD & the LA Lakers lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy. We also saw some real lows including the capitulation of some teams such as the Bucks, Rockets and most notably Kawhi Leonard, Paul George & the LA Clippers.
Last season gave us a lot of great basketball, great moments and great memories. However as we all know, there was one ting looming over the NBA. What happens next season?
We were all a bit scared of a severely delayed season or even a potential lock-out but don’t fret, because the NBA is BACK! We go again on December 22nd for the 2020/21 NBA season and I’m extremely excited. They’ve lined up some amazing games for us over Christmas and there is so much currently going on this offseason that I even had to pick back up the pen.
I’m so excited that I’ve even decided to come back with a few articles in a series called the “Lockdown Lowdown”. I’ll be bringing you my takes on some of the things that have been happening or coming up during this second UK lockdown so you can expect:
- Potential trades and which players certain organizations should look at
- NBA Draft Prospects
- Key contenders for the upcoming season
- More? Who actually knows.
Stuff is cooking both here and on my hoops podcast THE RVNDOWN, so stay locked and keep up.
